A Message to Our Trinity Community Regarding COVID-19
March 16, 2020
Grace and peace to you,
The coronavirus pandemic is a rapidly evolving challenge impacting everyone and creating implications far beyond our imagination. As the situation evolves the recommendation of government organizations and public health departments also rapidly change. All of these changes are impacting Trinity Lutheran Church. The Trinity Church Council met Sunday (3/15/2020) to discuss these issues. Based upon information from the CDC, the local public health department, local school districts, and the ELCA, the council made the decisions to implement infection prevention plans within our facility consistent with public health and CDC recommendations.
New recommendations came from the CDC and the ELCA this morning (3/16/20). Trinity Lutheran Executive Committee and Council voted to accepted Bishops Candea’s recommendations to “suspend all worship and fellowship activities in our buildings through the end of the month.” (CLICK HERE) We will continue to have virtual worship online (CLICK HERE), but will not be gathering in person. As the pandemic situation evolves, this will probably be a cyclical process with potential future changes to the Trinity plan.
Our Trinity Lutheran leadership team wants to assure you that we are doing everything possible to ensure the safety of our members and our community AND to find creative and innovative ways to continue our Worship and Mission.
At this point I feel like praying…Let us pray, O God, where hearts are fearful and constricted, grant courage and hope. Where anxiety is infectious and widening, grant peace and reassurance. Where impossibilities close every door and window, grant imagination and resistance. Where distrust twists our thinking, grant healing and illumination. Where spirits are daunted and weakened, grant soaring wings and strengthened dreams. All these things we ask in the name of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. Amen.
We will continue to provide you with regular updates and communication. We appreciate your gracious understanding and cooperation at this unique time of incredible challenge and change.
Peace be with you!
Pastor Chris and Mike Sharitz, President of Church Council.
